Hmmm….

It’s awfully quiet here.

Jogging…

If only for my own record, tonight I ran twice my normal distance, which makes it close to 10km. I reckon I could’ve kept going if my feet weren’t feeling numb (!). I wasn’t that much more exhausted than I am when I finish after 5km.

I figured it was a good idea to stop running on numb feet. :-)

Cheer up, Brian! Don’t grumble, give a whistle…

Thanks to Monty Python… helping put a smile on my dial for many years.

Minor changes to the blog

Hey guys, I’ve modified the settings on this blog so that you need to create a user account in order to post comments. I’ve been getting hundreds of spam comments in the moderation queue, and finally got annoyed enough by them to make this change. I’m hoping this helps.

Courmayeur

I’ve put some photos up on Flickr from my trip this week to Courmayeur in the Alps in northern Italy. The town is on the Italian side of Mont Blanc.

Needless to say, it was really cool (and cold)!

Update: Here’s a map showing where Courmayeur is. It’s right near Mont Blanc and the Italian/French border.

A long overdue update!

So, it’s been a while since I last posted here! A fair bit has happened since October.

I returned to Adelaide from New York, and spent three weeks there enjoying the fantastic sunny weather, and, of course, catching up with the family and friends who I hadn’t seen for about 7 months. I had a great time back home with you guys, and definitely miss you all a lot!

I’m now back in London. I started my new job at Google in late November. It’s a great opportunity to work with some pretty cool guys at a successful company.

We’ll see what the future holds — I like Australia, and will definitely go home again, one day. Right now, however, I’m definitely quite pleased to be on this particular boat.

. o O ( A holiday. I could really use that. )

I’m sitting here at my desk on the trading floor at an investment bank on Wall Street, with two weeks left in New York before my return to Australia. I’m looking forward to it — I haven’t had a break from work longer than 2 or 3 days since February, which really is too long ago! I have mixed feelings though, because I’ve had a great time in New York. My new job will be in London, but who knows what’s down the road. I’d definitely like to live here one day.

Rats!

You might have thought I was joking around about the rats.

Long Island Iced Tea

Next time, I’m sticking with beer, okay? Heheheh.

The last place I had one of these was in Nottingham, of all places.

Hedge Fund loses $6.5 billion USD in one month

Here’s an article about a hedge fund that recently lost $6.5 billion USD in just one month, apparently from bad energy bets. Ouch.

Imagine being the guy on the energy desk. The next edition of his CV will need some creativity. But, how can any entity let itself be so exposed to one risk, like that? That’s crazy talk.
